Story & Art by John Sands
The Purplelurpelos is a colourful and imaginative children's picture book written and illustrated by John Sands, published in 2026.
The story follows the Purplelurpelos — charming, fuzzy purple creatures who live in a vibrant purple village called Purplelurpeloville. The book traces a full day in their lives, from heading off to school with mom and dad waving goodbye, walking through the village and climbing hills along the way, to meeting a new friend the Bluesewoosee and arriving at school together.
After school, the little friends enjoy classic childhood fun: swinging, playing kickball, riding the seesaw, and zooming down the big slide. The Purplelurpelo then invites the Bluesewoosee home for homework, play, and a wonderful family dinner ending the day with both families becoming friends and the kids excitedly planning their next adventure.
The book also features bonus adventure spreads showing the Purplelurpelos riding bicycles through the village, splashing at the pool, playing baseball and basketball, flying colorful hot air balloons, and flying kites at the beach.
At its heart, the book celebrates friendship, school, family, and the joy of everyday adventures told through a wonderfully inventive fantasy world with vibrant, richly detailed illustrations.
